Maisonbrantome.com, holiday town house gite in the Little Venice of the Dordogne
This depends on what sort of holiday you wish for, how many in your party, your active state, seasonal opening times and of course the weather.
We all hope for good weather but a good plan is to look at the weather a few days before you arrive and plan your clothing accordingly. It also means you can pack more efficiently. Nights can be hot or cool so top clothing is always recommended. This also applies when you arrive to trips out, you may wish to visit places like shops or historic caves when the weather is not hot and sunny, perhaps you would if it’s too hot?
Care must be taken in the sunny and hot seasons and because each region in France differs, so can the weather, you can be hot and sunny in Brantome and 10 km it could be a different story. So when you travel put alternate clothing in your car.
Brantome is well suited for:
Historic trips, walks, cycling, horse riding, paddle boarding, canoeing (short, medium or longer distances), boat trips (if you see Jean Luke in the main market square you can also hire him and his boat for a private trip too) , tennis, boules, swimming (in the river or at nearby village in an out door pool), fishing, microlite (ULM), climbing, adventure climbs, golf (25 – 30 mins) the are planned walks, children’s play area, children’s boating area, fetes, shops, supermarkets, hairdressers, doctors, dentist, laundrette, pharmacy, garages, in fact most things you would need. The choice is yours. You could of course just chill out and eat at one of the many restaurants to meet your taste and budget.
If you do canoe you will pass by our garden so you can collect anything you may need on your trip. Canoe note: – We always advise our guests to ask for double canoe paddles and a large barrel. This is used to not only keep your clothes dry, a towel, food, drink, mobiles, camera’s etc but also make very good back rests. Canoes are single, double or triple person. The canoe company provides life jackets for all using the canoes or paddleboards.
