Please ensure your children are supervised at all times and do not climb on railings, bannisters or running up and down stairs. Three child safety gates are available for use as you wish. Please replace to their original place after use. If you have young children do fit one exterior to the front door above the first step. This way every time the door is opened the gate is operational.  The rear door has a stable window function to ensure you can have the window open whilst locking the door for young children. Safety is a parental responsibility as no safety device is 100% effective and should not be a substitute for parent awareness and control.

We have had many families with children of all ages having a fantastic time using the house as a base enjoying the area and activities – canoeing, boules, crazy golf area, walks, playing in the park, swimming at one of the indoor or outdoor swimming pools, river beaches, indoor play parks at Perigueux (good wet weather activity).

Like any holiday if you do get inclement weather or arrive at the start or towards the end of the holiday season, some places may have limited opening times or are closed out of season.  So, do bring something to do which your children enjoy just in case and this at least ensures you have covered all options.

If you have very young children in these latter conditions, and do not bring additional indoor activities for them/cannot use the available activities below, the local rural area or house may not suit your needs.

You will find some activities are local and others you will have to travel to but that’s part of the fun of the holiday, so you can explore and view places to return to. Remember to always take your swimming costumes and towels in case you feel the need for a splash!

Here is a list of some things to do for you and / or the children, please visit the local Tourist Office for leaflets and more information as depending on your child’s age, height, not all will be applicable: click here for a suggestive list.

There are also loads of castles, chateaux to explore and during the main seasons many have events (do ask at the tourist board for more information).
