Walks & HIKES

There are many walks around Brantome and of course in the local areas of the Dordogne. These are just a few, see also click here:

  •  Brantôme along the Chemin Rural 4.3Km 1-1.30 hours
  •  Brantôme via Moulin de Vigonac 8Km 2-2.30 hours
  •  Brantôme via Subreroches 10Km 3-3.30 hours
  •  Brantôme to Champagnac de Belair 13Km 3-4 hours

The local Brantome tourist office has walks available and there should be , if not all used at Maisonbrantome maps, our website has these plus we would also recommend the following.

Depending on the weather there are other lovely walks / cycle rides:

Perigueux  – An approx. 35 min drive. Aim for the Jardin des Arenes (old colosseum turned into gardens) then walk from there to the river via the old City streets and  restaurants

Bourdeilles: 11km, whilst in Bourdeilles see our blue book for some lovely historic walks so you can split the walk in to Brantome – Bourdeilles return and the local walk or all in one if feeling on form. Alternatively drive to Bourdeilles and enjoy the local walk.

St John De Cole  about 25 min drive lovely to visit and explore this small village lots of character. The old railway line has a walk way to Nontron, it’s a good walk or cycle ride for the all day trips. Best to view on Google maps or speak to the Tourist board in the respective location first.

So you have a choice of local, nearby places to start and end your walk.

A little further afield you can explore many places down to Sarlat de Caneda  and south along the River Dordogne  which has some amazing history. A little further at Rocamadour will also see some wonderful places and lots of walking.

Hautefort  may be of interest to you.

One of our favourites just south of Bergerac airport (only because we stock our wine from there) is Le Chateau de Monbazillac  its always a good place taste different wines and to get some wine ballast to even the car ride!! They also sell other local wines. The area is littered with vineyards.
